As a research library specializing in Oriental studies, Toyo Bunko collects historical texts from locales across a wide array of locales, China, Japan, Korea, Manchuria, Mongolia, Siberia, Central Asia, Tibet, West Asia, Egypt, India, and Southeast Asia. Toyo Bunko's myriad holdings form a valuable corpus of cultural heritage that facilitates research on Asian history as well as culture. Toyo Bunko is seen as a leader not only in Japan, but is also considered one of the top five Asian studies research institutions in the world. In order to make all of Toyo Bunko's resources publically available, a rapidly evolving database for online searching is being compiled. In addition, Toyo Bunko also provides copies of requested book portions.
